Hi, my name is Kathleen Trotter. I have been a personal trainer for over seven years now here in Toronto. I grew up as a chubby kid and I always felt really awkward because I was almost 6 feet tall and bigger than all the boys. I never liked myself and had really low self esteem. I hardly had the courage to talk to anyone let alone play any sports or be active in any way. All of this changed when my mom gave me a membership to the YMCA for my grade eight graduation. I started to workout and it changed my life. My outside appearance changed, but more importantly my confidence increased and I began think more positively about myself and what I could accomplish. I started to run and lift weights and before I knew it, the girl who would do anything to get out of gym class, was running marathons, lifting weights and playing on basketball and baseball teams. Starting to exercise and changing my lifestyle was the best thing that I ever did for myself. This is why I became a personal trainer.
I love my job. I love helping people become fitter and healthier. I started out by getting certified to teach aerobics at the YMCA. I then went on to get Can Fit Pro certified and countless of other certifications and a university education followed. I couple of years into my career as a personal trainer I discovered pilates. I started out purely learning mat pilates and then decided to take a year long certification course to learn all about the different equipment used in pilates. I fell so in love with the equipment that I bought both a reformer and a cadillac chair to use with my clients at the studio that I work at.
What I love now is that I have enough training to work with a diverse group of people. I can work with all kinds of people. ranging from people who simply want to use resistance training to acheiving a fitter, long and lean appearance, to someone who wishes to get incredibly strong and bulk up, to women who are prenatal, to people who have neurological conditions like parkinsons, to athletes who want hard core training to someone who has had back pain and would like to use pilates to rehabilitate themselves. If you are thinking about getting fit, send me an email and I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have. I can design a program that is right for you, even if all you have is your living room floor and one set of dumbbells. Take a look at the list of certifications and specialties on the right of this page and let me know if any of my knowledge base could benefit you.
